Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Undergraduate Degrees

The history major is designed to provide breadth and depth of study in American, world, and European history and includes more focused study in the Middle East, Vietnam, the Holocaust, World War II, and U.S. military history. The small size of the major, the diversity of offerings, and flexibility within requirements allow students to choose courses based on interest and to pursue a second major. Majors pursue coursework in preparation for teaching careers in secondary education or graduate school in history, as well as for a variety of history-related careers, including in museum and historic site interpretation, archival management, archaeology, government agencies, and the law.
