ESSI 292 - Instructional Strategies in Special Education and Field Experience 2 Credit(s)
In this course and field experience, students will master current instructional strategies related to learning and interventions in inclusive, push-in, and pull-out settings. The course will build upon concepts learned in previous methods courses, delving deeper into theory and research surrounding special education instruction of individuals with exceptional learning needs, and related instructional and remedial methods and techniques, include appropriate assistive technology. This course includes 40 hours in special education classroom aligned to the endorsement area sought. Pre-service special educators may perform duties typically assigned to a teacher aide and may have the opportunity to engage in targeted instruction under cooperating teacher guidance. This course will include an introduction and participation in Professional Learning Communities.
Prerequisite(s): Must have passed Teacher Education Program Checkpoint II.
