ARTD 320 - Sculpture


3 Credit(s)

This course is an introduction to sculptural media and theory. Fundamental issues in sculpture such as site, context, process, psychology and aesthetics of the object, and the object’s relation to the body will be explored. Interpretation and audience interaction will also be explored. Introductions to a variety of materials and techniques both traditional (clay, wood, metal, plaster) as well as non-traditional (resins, found objects, rubber, etc.) will be emphasized.

Prerequisite(s): ARTD 195  or permission of the instructor.

Grading Method: Student option.

Learning Outcomes:
1.Create finished products in a variety of sculptural media in both additive and subtractive techniques, as well as demonstrate safe and proper use of sculpture tools and equipment in the creation of sculpture2.Demonstrate application and discussion of the principles of composition and design as applied to sculptural media and 3D design concepts.3.Exhibit the ability to critically analyze and discuss the intellectual as well as the dimensional concepts of sculpture.4.Demonstrate professionalism in the preparation, presentation, discussion, and exhibition of finished artworks.
