AGSC 315 - Animal Behavior


3 Credit(s)

Includes analysis of behavior mechanisms (genetics, neurobiology, hormones), evolution (natural and artificial selection), and development (instinct, learning) of behaviors. This course will focus on categories of behavior such as foraging, mating, sociality and social organization, territoriality, aggression, environmental impacts on behavior, and parental care. A wide range of behavior examples will be used with special focus put on animals of agricultural significance.

Prerequisite(s): AGSC 200  or BIOL 210 , or BIOL 270 .

1.Classify behaviors using Tinbergen’s 4 causes of behavior 2. Integrate topics discussed in class to living animal systems 3. Design and run an experiment as well as present their findings in a scientific manor
