ARTD 290 - Scientific Illustration I

This course provides instruction in various aspects of scientific illustration under the guidance of a faculty member from Visual Art and Design and a faculty member from Biology. This course should result in a portfolio of scientific illustrations designed to accompany a published work or educational display.

Course Frequency: ARR

Grading Method: Student option.

Learning Outcomes:
1.Exhibit the ability to work in coordination with both the Art & Design instructor, Science advisor, and Science faculty to develop project parameters, aesthetic/design expectations, and final exhibition of works. 2.Develop a minimum of four illustrative works that are well researched, informative, and accurate that aid in the communicative abilities of an instructor in the School of Science.3.Further acquire and exhibit a vocabulary of terms and techniques related to scientific illustration (Art and Design/Science). 4.Show growth in their ability to communicate specific ideas, observations, and research.5.Exhibit high technical prowess in their ability in visually illustrate components of nature.
