ESSI 303 - Methods of Teaching Differentiated Curriculum and Field Experience 3 Credit(s)
In this course, students explore and employ a variety of methods to teach diverse learners in inclusive settings. A foundation in explicit instruction and universal design for learning is established. Then instructional strategies for collaboration, differentiation, and accommodations and modifications are covered extensively to include decision making based on student data and characteristics. Specific strategies covered include co-teaching, differentiating for the five classroom elements and three student characteristics, and addressing content, process, and products. This course includes a 10-hour field experience in a classroom aligned to the endorsement area sought where students will engage in developing and teaching at least one co-taught, differentiated lesson.
Prerequisite(s): Must have passed Teacher Education Program Checkpoint I.
