ARTD 390 - Scientific Illustration II

In this course, students will create an advanced client-based illustrative project that includes a final public presentation. Students will be guided by a faculty member from art and design and a faculty member from biology with the development, production, and completion of the project.

Course Frequency: ARR

Grading Method: Student Option.

Learning Outcomes:
1.Exhibit an advanced ability to work in coordination with the Art & Design instructor, Science advisor, and Science faculty to develop project parameters, aesthetic/design expectations, and final presentation of works.2.Develop and complete a major digital illustrative project that is well researched, informative, and accurate that aids in the communicative abilities of an instructor in the School of Science or outside of the university client.3.Exhibit use of an advanced vocabulary of terms and techniques related to scientific and/or medical illustration, and show advanced ability to communicate specific ideas, observations, and research.4.Demonstrate advanced skills and art techniques related to representational and accurate rendering of natural science subjects.5.Demonstrate an understanding of the target audience and how created illustrations are designed to impact that audience.
