With our increasingly technological world, quantitative and abstract reasoning are more important than ever. For the past several years, mathematics and math-related careers have been nationally ranked among the highest in demand and best paying. A major in Mathematics can lead to many different professional opportunities. In general, Mathematics majors can be found in any career that requires problem solving ability, critical thinking, comfort working with data, sound logical and quantitative reasoning skills, ability to think abstractly, and a willingness to engage in analyzing problems and evaluating potential solutions.

At Buena Vista University the Mathematics major courses provide a strong background in theoretical, applied, and corporate mathematics, allowing students to pursue many different career paths. The program is small enough to allow for individualization; students often work one-on-one with faculty, pursuing career goals and interests. The Ben Donath Mathematics Enrichment Fund is available to Mathematics majors to support costs associated with travel, application to graduate school, attending conferences, and other professional opportunities.
