TEAC 490 - Student Teaching - Mild/Moderate (K-8) 3-6 Credit(s)
During this capstone experience in approved classrooms/programs serving students with mild/moderate disabilities at the elementary level, teacher candidates assume responsibility for planning and delivering engaging instruction that aligns with students’ Individualized Education Programming (IEP), content standards, builds on students’ prior learning and experiences, and differentiates for diverse learners. Within a safe and equitable learning environment, candidates utilize formative and summative assessment data to make instructional decisions and provide meaningful feedback to students. Participants reflect on their professional practice throughout the field experience. Compliance with legal and ethical conduct as defined by law and district policy is expected. A mandatory seminar is attached to this field experience. No other courses may be taken concurrently with student teaching.
Prerequisite(s): Must have passed Teacher Education Program Checkpoint III.
Repeatable for credit with approval from the Teacher Education Committee. Grading Method: Student option.
