EDUC 336 - Literacy Foundations I 3 Credit(s)
This introductory course will emphasize the foundations of teaching literacy. Teacher candidates will explore how oral language, reading, and writing are developed. The focus of this course is literacy acquisition, development, and assessment. Specifically, it includes an overview of oral and written communication, phonemic awareness, phonics, spelling, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Teaching approaches, standards alignment, and instructional resources will also be explored.
Grading Method: Student option.
