ARTD 304 - Critical Issues in Modern and Contemporary Art 3 Credit(s)
This course investigates the critical theory, art history and cultural revolutions that shaped the art of the 1940’s through today. Students will debate and clarify issues through verbal and written analysis, interpretation and comparison of the visual material and the readings.

Learning Outcomes: 1.Be able to identify the names of artists of discussed time periods, titles of artworks from course readings and lectures, and significant dates specific to the parameters of the course.2.Acquire and develop communication skills in the areas of visual analysis and interpretation of artworks.3.Show proficiency in ability to discuss artworks and historical events of the times covered in the course and relate them to broader life experiences and to the contemporary world.4.Become familiar with the significant works of art and architecture within the historical parameters of the course, the evolutionary trends in art history, and adept in scholarly research and writing.
