Basic Science Endorsement (K-8 or 5-12)

The basic science endorsement specifically allows students to be licensed to teach in basic science areas at either the K-8 or 5-12 grade levels. This endorsement must be accompanied by either endorsement #102, elementary classroom teacher or by a 5-12 certification in a secondary content area.

K-8 TEACHING LICENSURE:

The Education Core:


The education core, which is required of all students seeking a teaching license, is the nucleus of the teacher education program and includes basic courses in education and psychology. Elementary education majors, students seeking secondary licensure, and Post Baccalaureate students are required to take all EDCO courses for a letter grade and to earn a minimum grade of “C-” in each course.

* Prerequisite:


Students must complete a background check prior to beginning this field experience. The background check will be conducted by BVU’s Human Resource department and is at the student’s expense.

5-12 TEACHING LICENSURE:


Plus requirements for 5-12 certification in a secondary content area and:

30-33 credit hours
